At the moment I am constructing a PMDG 737 MCP for Flight Simulator X. I started this project since I want to spend much less money on a PMDG 737 MCP for Flight Simulator. The PMDG 737 MCP solutions sold online are quite expensive I think, between 400 and 1000 dollars. I am convinced I can make one for much less money, around 200-250 dollars.
Some time ago I investigated the Microsoft Simconnect library, since I need to be able to control an aircraft in Flight Simulator X.
Basically, I want to be able to display simultaneously the following information on 6 groups of 7-segment displays:
Next, I want to have six rotating knobs on the PMDG 737 MCP I am developing in order to be able to control above MCP settings.
Further, I need switches and leds for the following:
At the moment, most of electronics and the programming work has been done. I am able to display the PMDG 737 MCP information on the 7-segment displays, I can control 48 leds and scan 48 switches on the prototype I developed. Next thing to do is connecting the rotating knobs and assigning the switches and leds to PMDG 737 MCP aircraft controls and information.
After that I will complete a the box in which I will mount the prototype and I will make a front-panel for this box.
As soon as I finish this project, I will put pictures on my site. Contact me in case you’re interested.
